View from Sternen to the Forstberg 2215m

Demanding T4 hike with crossing of 2 panoramic peaks & cable car back to the valley

Beautiful ridge hike with views into the Muota valley as well as to the Glarus & Uri mountain ranges

The Schwyz Pre-Alps are characterized by contrasts: lovely alpine terrain alternates with extensive grass and scree slopes as well as steep rock faces. This round tour starts already demanding on the first meters of altitude with the overcoming of a rock step with the help of wire ropes and ladders. Afterwards it goes comfortably over alpine terrain to the Druesberg hut 1581m. The ascent to the Druesberg and Forstberg leads over grass, scree and rock sections, some of which are secured with chains. On a clear day, the panorama of the nearby Glärnisch massif and the Glarus and Uri mountain ranges is nothing short of stunning. But please, not in the literal sense, as almost all sides of the Druesberg drop to dizzying depths.

Program*

9.15 h      From Weglosen first T4 passages over a rock step with the help of wire ropes and ladders. Across alpine terrain to the Druesberg hut 1581m. This is followed by a chain-secured passage over downward-stratified rocks. Afterwards you reach the highest point of the Druesberg 2282 m in less steep terrain. From the Druesberg you descend on the same route to the Druesberg gap. Now the path leads to the northern flank of the Forstberg. A secured scramble leads to the highest point of the Forstberg.
