Monte Boglia is a mountain in Switzerland and Italy, on whose crest runs the border between the canton of Ticino and the Italian province of Como. It is the highest elevation in the district of Lugano. The panoramic view over the Sottoceneri and Italy with the Lago di Lugano up to the Monte Rosa massif are unique. In winter, some peace and quiet returns to Monte Boglia. The moods and conditions are then very different: beautiful snow or rustling leaves accompany us.

The hike starts below Monte Brè, which is considered to be the sunniest mountain in Switzerland - probably for this reason the rare and protected Christmas rose grows here, which otherwise only thrives in southern Europe. The romantic village of Brè sopra Lugano with its grotti has preserved the character of an old rural settlement and has been gradually enriched by numerous works of art with artistic details and sculptures by local artists.

Program*

 

9.45 h        Start from Brè Sopra Lugano (785m) and ascent to Monte Boglia (1516m). Descent along the Italian border and with a view of the famous rock formations of the Denti della Veccia to Pian di Scagn (1173m). Then return to Brè Sopra Lugano (785 m) via the panoramic high trail.

16.40 h      expected end of the hike in Brè Sopra Lugano (785 m).

Requirements

Conditional:      Condition for the indicated hiking time (without breaks), meters of ascent and descent as well as kilometers.

Difficulty level:  T2 - T3 moderate - demanding mountain hiking

                           Depending on conditions (e.g. snow on the north side) demanding.

                           Good surefootedness of the participants as well as sturdy shoes with a grippy sole, preferably ankle-high, are required.

The registration has to be done at the latest 1 day before the tour at 12 o'clock by e-mail, mail (receipt by hike leader) or by phone.
