The Schönberg with its beautiful summit slope

Through forests and open pastures to the panoramic summit with views all the way to Lake Constance

Panoramic, varied snowshoe hike in the Principality of Liechtenstein

The Schönberg is considered a classic in the "Ländle", as it has all the characteristics of a beautiful tour with a varied landscape and, if the weather permits, rewards with a far-reaching view all the way to Lake Constance. Our final point of the tour is the village of Malbun, situated in a high and trough valley. The Walsers, who immigrated from the end of the 13th century, were probably the first to settle permanently in the area of Triesenberg and used the area for agriculture. Due to the isolated location for centuries and the lack of transport connections, no trade or industry developed in Malbun. The area was essentially used only by agriculture and forestry, whereby this use can be traced back to the 14th century. Only since about 100 years the touristic use has been another source of income.

In Malbun is an ATC Avalanche Training Center located. This is a stationary facility for practicing avalanche victim search with avalanche transceivers and avalanche probes. It allows to train the handling of the emergency equipment under almost realistic conditions. A visit to the facility is recommended after the snowshoe tour and outside the program.
