Greina crossing
with Pizzo Coroi 2784m
in 2 days - GR / TI

Date still to be defined

View of Ticino from Pizzo Coroi
Scenic nature and culture trip from Grisons to Ticino
Pathless to the panoramic mountain Pizzo Coroi
The Greina plateau was included in the federal inventory in 1996 as a protected zone because of its exceptional and unique diversity of biotopes. It belongs to the landscapes and natural monuments of Switzerland with national importance. It is one of the few still natural, contiguous areas in Switzerland. This is partly due to its remoteness. Only after a hike of several hours does one reach the lonely high mountain landscape. It is an absolutely treeless area and in the vast natural landscape the eye finds hardly any clues to spatial distances. The plateau is about six kilometers long and one kilometer wide at 2200m above sea level.
We will cross the Greina starting in the Rhaeto-Romanic Val Lumnezia in the north (Canton Grisons) and the Italian-speaking Blenio Valley as destination in the south (Canton Ticino).
